Today we bring you a multipurpose project: Create a small bowl with T-shirt yarn! Ideal for storing those objects that we always lose sight of or to use as a cover for cups. Every time you grab a hot cup of tea, do you burn your fingers? Or on the contrary, do liquids cool down very quickly? So, nothing better than having this super practical and beautiful fabric basket.
CallalooSoup shares this fabulous idea, easy to make and for which we only need two t-shirt yarn balls of different colors and a large crochet hook. We used a 9 mm one, but you can use an even bigger one if you want. But now let’s see the step by step.
Step 1: Start by making a 6-stitches crochet chain.
Step 2: Join by linking with a slip stitch to create a circle. Then begin to form the base of the bowl.
Step 3: Start with the necessary rounds to achieve the basket. Make 2 single crochets in each stitch of the circle. In other words, we need to make 12 stitches. The bowl will take this form:
Step 4: For the second round, make 2 single crochets in the first stitch and 1 single crochet in the next. Repeat this sequence 6 times to complete the round; with which in total will create 18 stitches.
Step 5: Go through the third round: this time, 2 single crochets in the first crochet, and another single crochet in each of the next two stitches. Repeat the process 6 times to finish the round, with which we will have made a total of 24 stitches. At this point, the base is finished. If you want the bowl to be larger, you just have to continue with the pattern we have followed, increasing 6 stitches each round.
Step 6: It’ s time to grow our basket upwards, that is, we will work on the sides. Make a first round of 1 single crochet in each stitch, all around. Then, repeat the same process for the number of rounds we want, depending on how deep we want the bowl to be.
Remember that whenever you want you can start a round in another color:
And now, why not make several of the same bowls and create your own set, to use with your teacups?
