I was browsing my favorite blogs and came across this post about fabric necklaces. Weeks later I remembered that I had a t-shirt that was rolling around the basement so I decided to use it and make my own version of the necklace.
I love my necklace so much and have wanted to share it with you. Here it is! Hope you like.
Criss-crossed necklace
Materials:
- 1 XXL or XXXL T-shirt.
- Scissors and/or a rotary blade.
- Sewing machine or needle and thread.
Find the best T-shirt yarn for your projects in our virtual store!
Step by step:
Cut the bottom edge of the t-shirt. Cut 9 2-inch strips.
Stretch the strips through your hands to allow the fabric to roll up inside itself. Make groups of three strips.
Sew the ends together. Secure the end to a stationary object (like a couch) with a safety pin. Start braiding. I find that a tight braid looks good but avoid pulling and stretching the fabric.
With the braiding and end stitching done cut out three pieces of fabric.
Cut a 5 x 7-inch square of the fabric from the remaining part of the shirt, fold over the three braids and sew. Sew the tube as close to the braids as possible for a perfect fit. Cut off excess fabric and turn right.
Voila! Your necklace is complete.
