You can add an original touch to any cotton t-shirt by altering the very shape of it and even better if you can do the project quickly. That’s why today we are going to teach you how to decorate a t-shirt easily, so that you can demonstrate your manual skills and at the same time give your t-shirts a new life.

How to decorate a t-shirt

Materials:

• T-shirt.
• Scissors.
• Needle.
• Thread.

Step by step:

To begin cut vertical slits throughout the neck of the t-shirt. Make the first slit in the middle of the neck (at the front) and from there make the others. Each slit should be at least 2.5 cm apart and 5 cm long.

Here comes the technical part: starting from one of the sides of the shirt (the shoulder seam), take loop #2 (the second slit fabric) and push it under the first slit. At this point you will form the first loop. This is the step that you must perform with all the slits, make a loop and pass the fabric of the next slit in that loop, in turn a new loop will be formed through which you must pass the fabric of the slit that follows.

Keep doing these steps and you’ll see how the braid begins to form.

When you get to the end, sew a few stitches to join the last loop on the shoulder of the t-shirt.

You can also make a few stitches at the beginning of the braid to keep the loop from opening up.

Although there is only one braid in the picture, at this point you can add a second row of slits and make a second braid. It all depends on how low the neck of the t-shirt is, because if it’s very open when making a second row you would open it much more.
